La Guillotière is a funky neighborhood on the left bank of the Rhone. Historically it has been home to immigrants. In the past Italians, and now people from the Maghreb, Turkey and Southeast Asia. These photos show me in front of Arab butcher shops such as “Boucherie Salem” and aromatic and colorful pastry shops. The bottom photos show parts of Chinatown (it occupies only a few small blocks), which is near our temporary apartment.
